Robotics
Robotics is a great way for students who are interested in S.T.E.M to participate in. We learn early engineering skills, coding, and building techniques that students can take into future careers. We have to fill out an engineering notebook to show the design and thought that went into creating our robots. Students use Mathematical and logical problem-solving skills when building, and then have to use planning and skills when driving or coding our robots.
Students in 3rd-5th grade are eligible to try out. Robotics coaches will go to every classroom to show a video about what robotics looks like, talk to students about participating, and send out a Google form to gauge interest. Once it is known how many students are interested, students are asked to fill out a robotics team application, and come to a tryout session after
school.
Students must be able to attend practices and competitions. Students must sign a contract when they join robotics, as it is a big commitment.
Robotics meets once a week after school until 5:00 pm from September through March. Competitions are often held on Saturdays and last around seven hours.
